Thursday, they put in the window sills and the glass transom above the door. We put on the backsplash tiles that go over the range. They're a copper faced ceramic tile. We also started installing the laminate "floating" floor.

Don't let anyone fool you into thinking this kind of floor is easy to install. It's very tricky, and the devil is in the details. It takes a lot of thinking and planning ahead. Also, the veneer is rather fragile until it's installed, and one missed hammer blow will cause significant damage.

Friday, we finished the kitchen and pantry floors, and the drywall finishers came in and finished up their work in the bathroom.

Monday, the bathroom tile was installed, except the tile that needs milling. They also installed the pantry shelves, and made a nice step nosing for the pantry. The shower floor is tumbled marble 2"x2" tiles, and the rest is travertine 18"x18" tiles.

Tuesday, they finished the bathroom tile work, and are scheduled to return Friday to grout it. We started painting the pantry, too.

The strip of small mosaic stone tiles provides a transition to the white ceramic tile, which is at a slightly different height than the travertine floor tile.

Thursday, they grouted and finished up the tile work. Friday they painted some, and did some trim work. Then Saturday we painted the bathroom walls and ceiling, installed the shower head, and took a shower. The shower curtain is temporary until we get a glass one.

Just a little cleanup by us on Monday, then Tuesday the wall painting was finished. Wednesday was minor tasks like adding tile to the sloped transition from the house to the kitchen, then Thursday they installed the countertops and the gas service. Two gas cylinders, one so when we run out we can switch over and call for a refill at our leisure.

The dining table is temporary until we get a good one.

Friday's big push almost got it all done. Just a few items left that we hope to get done ourselves ASAP. The undercounter lights are in, the bathroom sink is in, and quarter-round molding in the kitchen is in. Still waiting for missing parts for the range hood, and we've been struggling with installing the toilet. We went through three wax rings before realizing we need the thick ones.

Over the weekend, we did a few minor touch up things, and I installed the kitchen sink drain line. Still left are painting the doors and frames, and other minor touch ups.
